Cardiff Bay Yacht Club is the premier water sports club in south Wales.
The club boasts an idyllic setting in the heart of one of Europe’s most exciting waterfront regeneration schemes, mooring rights for 500 boats on the River Ely, and a modern clubhouse with extensive facilities.
Select were invited to tender for the club’s prestigious security contract, which included provision for an HD CCTV system, Paxton access control, maintenance cover, and a custom built 14M cantilever gate.
Select submitted a competitive tender proposal, and were successfully awarded the contract for the complete scheme of work.In conjunction with the team at Downey Engineering (www.peterdowney.co.uk), Select designed and installed a robust, heavy-duty cantilever gate system, complete with stainless steel features, and finished in the yacht club’s own blue paint colour scheme.
The gate is controlled by a NICE control system, with Paxton access control for the club’s 1,000+ members.
Select also installed a modern HD CCTV system throughout the site, to provide security for the club’s assets, extensive fleet, and for member’s vessels moored at the site.
Commenting on the project, Sales Director for Select, Leon Oliver, said:
“The club is a fantastic facility, and one of the many attractive features of Cardiff Bay. “We needed to ensure that the gate provided a high security barrier to entry, but was also aesthetically pleasing and in keeping with the surrounding area.
“Working with the team at Downey, the gate was designed, built, installed and tested within 8 weeks, and since being commissioned, the gate has received many glowing comments from members of the club, who are impressed by it’s functionality and ease of use.”
What makes Select different is not only that it offers customers the very latest security technology - but its highly qualified engineers are willing to tackle any and every job, no matter how challenging the location. That includes installing systems on farms in remote areas with no electricity supply for miles and systems at industrial complexes and in busy city centres (including at one of the UK.
