HD CCTV SYSTEM FOR BRECON TOWN CENTRE AND DYFED POWYS POLICE
Delivered on budget
Delivered on time
Delivered on promise
For many years the thriving rural market town of Brecon has been monitored by a CCTV system, protecting both visitors to the town centre, and the local community. However, Dyfed Powys Police recently decided to discontinue CCTV coverage, as the existing system had become antiquated, with high maintenance costs, and poor image quality. Faced with the prospect of losing CCTV coverage, Brecon Town Council and Brecon Police issued a tender notification, to replace the antiquated equipment with a modern system.
Select Security Specialists were invited to submit a proposal, as local Police Officers were already aware of the quality of Select’s HD CCTV systems; a number of cameras are already in operation with local businesses, and have been used by Officers to solve numerous crimes within the town.
Select reviewed the requirements of the tender, and put forward a suggestion, which not only dramatically increased the quality of CCTV footage, but also removed the need for expensive BT network cables, significantly reducing ongoing operational costs.
The solution included ten HD CCTV cameras, connected via a high-security wireless network. As Brecon is renowned for it’s architecture and idyllic rural setting, Select opted for discrete colour-coded cameras, mounted on period-correct ironmongery fixings, to help the system blend into the environment.
Each camera comes equipped with a WiFi transmitter, which is connected to the monitoring station via a high-security private wireless network, removing the need for extensive cabling, and further helping to minimize disruption.
Following the competitive tender process, Select were successfully awarded the contract, and installation was completed within ten days, with all work conducted out of business hours to reduce disruption for local businesses, residents and visitors.
Commenting on the project, Sales Director for Select Security Specialists, Leon Window, said: “We are enormously proud to have been awarded the contract, following an extensive and competitive tender process.
“To be chosen by a Police force, on the grounds of not only price, but also service, the quality of our equipment, and image clarity, is the highest accolade.“Since completing the job, the system has already been used to solve a number of high profile incidents.
Feedback from the local Police force is that they would not be without it.”
What makes Select different is not only that it offers customers the very latest security technology - but its highly qualified engineers are willing to tackle any and every job, no matter how challenging the location. That includes installing systems on farms in remote areas with no electricity supply for miles and systems at industrial complexes and in busy city centres (including at one of the UK.
