HOME ALARM SYSTEM CRICKHOWELL.

HOME ALARM SYSTEM CRICKHOWELL.

About This Project

What was the problem?
Mr and Mrs Logan wanted us to review their home security after some items were stolen from their garden earlier in 2012. They wanted a system that could secure both the inside and outside of their property.
What security devices did you install?
After risk-assessing the property and taking into account the needs of the owners we designed a system using the award-winning Grade 2 Visonic Power Master range. This system is wireless and allows us to split the property into ‘detector zones’ inside the house and in the garden.
What challenges did you face in installing the system?
The main challenge was securing the garden which had many water features and a stream running through the middle of it – any hard-wired system would have required expensive duct-work because of this. We used the Visonic Tower 20am wireless external detector to cover the entry and exit points around the property. This detector has built in measures to stop false alarms from animals and bad weather which makes it ideal for external use.
Please see the video link below to see how this works:

Any other work carried out?
We installed a BT-style broadband filter onto the owners’ home telephone line to connect it to the alarm. This meant the property owners could receive alarm messages direct to their home phone. It also gave them the ability to control the alarm from their mobile phones – checking its status, arming and disarming it as necessary. This facility is very useful if you go out and have forgotten to set the alarm.

Notes / Feedback

Since it was installed, there have been no thefts from Mr and Mrs Logan’s property or garden (although the postman did once set off the alarm by accident!).
The installation was carried out with little or no mess and in less than one working day. We offered training in the system and Mr and Mrs Logan found it simple to use – it has a very intuitive user interface.
Mr Logan said: “We would recommend Select Security to secure other people’s homes. They carried out the work on our home as if it was their own. The engineer we dealt with worked non-stop, trained the untrainable and left the house clean and tidy.” Alan Logan.
